"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it" - Confucius
Sometimes I catch myself daydreaming while watching the birds out my front window. I have three different feeders filled with suet, sunflower and mixed seeds. In the colder months, I often have a pair of cardinals to admire. As soon as I spot the bright male, I immediately look for the less obvious female.
I chose pencil for 'Female Cardinal in Early Winter'. Her form and expression are exquisite. She is easily recognizable by her distinct feathers and her subtle beauty is compelling.
